Sara Langtry performs at the Burklyn Ballet's Production at the Fringe Festival in Scotland
Sara Langtry from Carlene Nazarian
Dance Center was one of the dancers
chosen out of several hundred dancers
who auditioned worldwide for the
Burklyn Ballet summer program. Sara
attended the Burklyn Ballet program
for 6 weeks in Vermont. Every week
the training differed from ballet, jazz,
contemporary, and modern. Each
week the dancers performed in a
different production at the local college
theater. Sara performed many parts
such as a demi-soloist and a soloist.
She was also picked to choreograph
her own production during
"Choreography Week". Her
choreography, based in part on the
choreography experience she received
from Angie Conte at CNDC, won first
place and a scholarship. Her competitors were from around the globe, ages 13-27.
In 2011 and again in 2013, Sara auditioned and was one of the 22 dancers selected out of 150 to participate in Burklyn Ballet's production at the Fringe Festival in Scotland. In 2013, they performed Cinderella & the Flower Fairies. She was awarded the difficult and desirable part of a soloist as a Flower Fairy performing one of the longest solos in the show for all 9 shows.
Along with increasing Sara's ballet experience and providing her the opportunity to meet dancers from around the world, she also participated in her second love - production of shows. Sara was enthusiastic to return to Carlene Nazarian Dance Center and share her experiences with her CNDC dance friends.
